SPRING CHARITY WALKS 2026

Dartmoor Outdoor Festival Charity Walks

Unfortunately all boxes sited before the meet had to be removed from site, so the clue sheets obtained at the meet do not match the new box sites. The walks are organised as part of the Dartmoor Outdoor Festival (28th August – 4th September), The three walks are to raise funds for Dartmoor Search and Rescue (Registered No: 1173646), Dartmoor Search and Rescue (Registered No: 1200541) and Devon Air Ambulance (Registered No: 1077998).  If you would like to obtain a clue sheets but never had a chance to get it from the letterbox meet. CHARITY WALK ONE :- 55087 – 55097 Mystical Belstone Dragons This 3.5-mile walk takes you on a journey through the modern legend of the Dragon of Belstone, quite literally walking the shape of the dragon itself. Along the way, you’ll encounter features such as the “Dragon’s Mouth” (also known as the “Tuck Shop”), while exploring the stunning Belstone Ridge and surrounding tors. This route consists of 10 stamps plus a digital thank you stamp. This walk is raising funds for our charity partner, Dartmoor Search and Rescue (Registered No: 1173646). Stamps will be available on-site from 25th April to 31st October.

CHARITY WALK TWO :- 55110 – 55120 To Dartmoor and Beyond  This 3-mile circular walk takes you up and around Sourton Tors, offering incredible views across North Devon on a clear day. Starting from Prewley Moor, the route is a gentle stroll overall, with a few steeper sections to keep things interesting. Along the way, you’ll find 11 stamps, giving you plenty to discover as you explore this striking part of Dartmoor. This walk is raising funds for our charity partner, Dartmoor Search and Rescue (Registered No: 1200541). Stamps will be available on-site from 17th April to 31st October.

CHARITY WALK THREE :- 55099 – 55109 Dartmoor Miner  (Unfortunately one of the original boxes sited in this walk could not be found, if anybody finds it please let me know with clue and grids please. This 3.5-mile route takes you all around Sharpitor and Leather Tor, cris-crossing its way around this interesting land, with sections of mined out. This route starts in the Leeden Tor car park. The route can be as relaxed or as challenging as you choose, with plenty of opportunities for further exploration and adventure along the way. The scramble over Leather Tor certainly makes this interesting. This route consists 1 stamp that may be lost, plus 9 other stamps on the moor. Plus a digital thank you stamp. This walk is raising funds for our charity partner, Devon Air Ambulance (Registered No: 1077998). Stamps will be available on-site from 15th April to 31st October.

54932 – 54945 Country Pursuits.  An easy family walk of about 3½ miles in the Staple Tors area in aid of Force Cancer Charity (registered charity 1140676) and Purple Angel Dementia Awareness Devon (registered charity 1189616).  The walk starts from the Rees Jeffreys car park below Little Staple Tor heading towards Merrivale Quarry, then follows the dry leat out beyond Roos Tor.  Returning via Great Staple Tor, Middle Staple Tor, and Little Staple Tor and back to the Rees Jeffreys car park.  There are 12 boxes on the moor plus two Thank You stamps.  The walk will be on site from the end of March 2026 until the end of October 2026.  For a set of clues please visit my JustGiving page at https://www.justgiving.com/page/dartmoor-letterbox-walk-2026/ and send confirmation of your donation, £3 minimum (not including any voluntary donation to Just Giving), to d.and.e@btopenworld.com for pdf version of clues and electronic copies of both Thank You stamps.  Or send an SAE and cheque made payable to “FORCE Cancer Charity”  for £3 (minimum) to Dave Hartland, Creggan, Westcott, Cullompton, Devon, EX15 1RZ.  For details please email d.and.e@btopenworld.com or call 07434 365666.  Thank you for your support.

54749 – 54763  Guess The Tor Vol 2 (This walk previously on sale Autumn 2025)  In aid of Devonport High School for Boys . Parking at Barn Hill around Pew Tor and back again approx 3 miles, 14 stamps plus a starter. Boxes out until 30/09/2026. Cluesheets £3 and payment can be made by cheque payable to Leanne Borthwick, with an SAE to 4 Oak Road, Tavistock, PL19 9EZ. I can also accept payment via paypal. 54994 – 55011  There and Back Again – A Letterboxer’s Tale  A circularish walk of approx 3.5 miles starting out at Princetown car park, round to Hollow Tor, Foggintor Quarry and back along the old railway line. All proceeds are in aid of Devonport High School for Boys and Girls. The clues are £3 for 17 stamps plus a starter stamp. I can accept payment via Paypal, BACs and cheque. 54916 – 54929  Hectors House Charity Walk 3  This circular charity walk is in aid of Hector’s House Cat Rescue, registered Charity number 1192317. Funds will go towards the huge veterinary bills and feeding costs etc that are incurred in the daily running of such a charity. To see more please go to: https://www.hectorshousecatrescue.co.uk. The walk is around Hay and Holwell Tor, allowing for detours to the top of Hay Tor and some quarries and takes in some of the tram way. All along well defined paths, not bracken or gorse bashing needed. There is a Starter and Thank you Stamp with the clues and 12 boxes, plus three extra stamps (54913, 54914, 54915) that have been timed to be released with the walk. These three boxes will remain on the moor as Moor boxes after the walk is taken in. The walk is on sale at the Spring Meet held at Lee Moor Public Hall. The clue sheet costs £3 and I will add 50 pence per sold sheet. Boxes will be out 29th March to 31st October 2026. 54981 – 54993  Moor Wild Places Walk 3  12 stamps plus a Thank you stamp with clues in a circular walk of just over 4km in the Hollow Tor & Foggin Tor area. 55071 – 55083  Dartmoor Search & Rescue Team Ashburton. What could go wrong? Vol. III :- Hunt for 12 boxes along this family friendly walk of approximately 3 miles beginning and ending at the car park by Cadover Lakes (SX 554 648). Take in the views of the beautiful Plym Valley as you wander out to the Dewerstone and back via Wigford Down to take in the hut circles and cairns. Thank you stamp available at the meet or to be cut out from clue sheet. Clues £3 and Mabel’s cheat sheet with photos of all the box sites is available again for £1 (handy for little ones). 54962 – 54975  Dartmoor Through the Ages – The Stone Age  Supporting Children’s Hospice South West. A short circular family walk of under 3 miles, starting at Four Winds Car Park, going up and around Little Mis Tor and back to the car park. The walk consists of a starter stamp with the clue sheet, 12 stamps on the moor and a thank you stamp in the Fox Tor Cafe, Princetown. 54946 54961  Diggers on Dartmoor Charity Walk  A 3 mile circular route in the Leeden Tor area. Starting and finishing from Leedon Tor car park 561 701 on the B3212 Yelverton to Princetown Road. There will be 15 boxes on the moor and 1 sent with the clues. 55057 – 55066  Early Farming on Dartmoor Series 15 A family walk of approximately 2½ miles in aid of the PDSA (registered charity 208217) that treats sick and injured animals. 10  detailed stamps including starter stamp. The route starts from the quarry below Boulters tor  to West slopes of White Tor and back . Asterix & Obelix , A charity walk in aid of Mind – The Mental Health Charity of about 5K from Cox Tor out to Roos Tor and back, consisting of 16 boxes. Suggested parking at Higher Godsworthy – SX 530 765. This walk will be on site from 29.03.2026 until the 24.10.2026.
